Phlebotomy is typically making a puncture in a vein with a cannula to draw blood from the patient’s arm. The procedure itself is known as venipuncture. A person who performs Phlebotomy is called a “phlebotomist.” Standard’s Phlebotomy Certification course prepares students to receive their National Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician through the National Health Career Association (N.H.A.)
